Our Social Impact

The people behind the botanicals · The land behind the people

To protect the land,
uplift its people,
and celebrate its beauty.

Beauty does not begin in a laboratory. It begins in the hands that harvest, the landscapes that sustain, and the generations of knowledge that came before us. Every bottle is connected to something larger than itself.

"Long before these botanicals reached our hands in Copenhagen, they belonged to a much older story — one shaped by land, tradition, and the women who carried that knowledge forward."
Luyana Skincare

01

A legacy of knowledge,
passed between generations.

The women behind many of our ingredients are more than producers.

They are custodians of knowledge passed from one generation to the next — knowledge of when to harvest, how to prepare, and how to honour the plants that have sustained their communities for centuries.

Long before these ingredients became sought after by the global beauty industry, they were part of everyday rituals of care.

Where possible, we source through female-led collectives. Where those collectives do not exist, we seek women-owned businesses whose values align with our own.

Not because it is fashionable.

Because it reflects the kind of world we want to help build.

The most valuable ingredient we source is knowledge.

02

The future of these ingredients
begins with the land.

The botanicals we use do not come from plantations engineered for efficiency.

They come from living landscapes that have sustained communities for generations.

Marula, baobab, and mongongo are part of ecosystems whose value extends far beyond the ingredients they provide.

We believe these landscapes deserve stewardship, not extraction.

Through partnerships with local communities, we support initiatives that encourage long-term conservation and create lasting value around indigenous trees and botanicals.

What is valued is protected.

When communities benefit from the continued presence of these trees, both people and landscapes have the opportunity to flourish together.

Every bottle
carries a longer story.

Marula fruit in the tree

The ingredients inside every Luyana formulation travel a remarkable path.

From women harvesting marula fruit beneath African skies to the studio where each formulation is refined in Copenhagen, every bottle represents countless hands, generations of knowledge, and a shared belief in doing things differently.

Our responsibility is simple.

To honour that journey with care.

To create products worthy of the people and places that made them possible.

We are only one chapter in a much older story. And we intend to be worthy of it.

The next chapter

How ancestral ingredients become modern rituals.

Every formulation begins with the same question: What deserves a place on the skin? Discover how we translate generations of botanical wisdom into concentrated, waterless skincare.
